An alarming fire, attended with loss of life, was
discovered on monday evening in the house of Mrs
Tucker, bookseller, Bridport. Mrs Tucker perished,
it is supposed by suffocation, in endeavouring to
escape. The maid-servant escaped from a window.
Burial grave, no. 138, at Bridport. Large upright, curved top. The monumental inscription reads:-

Thomas senior died 14/11/1828 aged 39
Elizabeth died 22/11/1828 daughter of forenamed Thomas and of his wife Matilda aged14
Matilda died 21/09/1846 wife of Thomas. Death was caused by fire. Aged 6 (ref. gravestone)
