View from the upstairs of the Dower house on top of the stair case. |
This is a view of a baking oven that is on the left, then there is a second oven in the back wall of this fireplace. The wood mantle you see is the mantle of the fireplace. The fireplace is a room in itself. It is easier to see this fireplace in the large picture form so click on this one to get there. |
This is a close up of the baking oven in the back wall of the Dower House fireplace. |
This is the side Baking oven in the fireplace of the dower house. It looks to be of a modern brick to me but it is set into the original stone work. |
Another picture of the side baking oven in the fireplace |
This is the side wall of the baking oven that is in the fireplace, but it is also the wall beside the opening of the fire place. This shows where the mantle ends then there is a hollow and there is stone layed in that wall that is different from the original stone.. I don't remember what Mike was telling me about this but I will find out. |
This is also the same wall and the opening I was talking about, you see the back of Janet Beards head here to the right. This creates a shelf or hollow behind the backing oven. |
St. Stephen's Parish Church, Bodfari, North Wales. This Church is about five miles from Caerwys. This is the church that Dr. Thomas Wynne and his siblings were baptized in.
 |
This is the gate way that you walk through, before hiking up the staircase to the church. I believe this little shelter keeps people dry while they are collecting their cars or in old days wagons to pick everyone else up to go home. As there is no parking at the church that I saw. |
This is the staircase going up to the church and graveyard. |
Looking up to the church. |
Looking down from the church |

This bench that you see to the left of Bob QUigley is actually a graveside tombstone bench, the deceased person's information is carved into the stone top. |
 |
This is Sharon Underhill taking pictures of the two prince or king heads that are in the frame work of the arch where the gate of the church is. |
This is a straight on picture of the same heads |
This is the head on the left of the gateway. Looks to be an older man with the mustache, and more of a kings type crown on his head |
 |
This one is younger more youthful, no facial hair and the crown looks more like a princes crown, but what do we know. I will do some research and find out what the story is. |

Joyce Gail Stewart checking out the tombstones |
The St. Stephen's church sits on a hill over looking the town of Bodfari. Behind the church and to the side of the church is the grave yard. You will see that they were in the middle of mowing when we were there but the rain had driven them off. There are several views you will see here from this cemetery. From the top layor of this Cemetery you could see it seemed forever. Very Beautiful. |

Cuz Gary, here is a HUGHES!!!! But it is a 1823 grave not an older one. |
I thought this would be a good example of the graves we saw, the stones are coffin length, and lay flat on the ground, or you saw raised walls with a top on it, or you saw the bench type we saw earlier, besides the typical stand up stone type tombstone. Remember we found no graves older than 200 years. What Mayor Phillip had said about them clearing them off at 200 years seems to be so. Different than we are use to. |
