Mary Lucy Obenshain Deel
DEEL, Mary Lucy Obenshain, 82, of Fincastle, passed away Friday, August 25, 2000. She was a lifelong member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she was active in the Ruth Sunday School Class and her W.M.U. Circle. She enjoyed teaching the nursery class and faithfully supported the work of the church. Mary Lucy was well known for her culinary skills especially her delicious cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Ryland Deel, and is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Edith Annette and John Alvis of Concord, Judy Lee Deel, Mary Ryland Deel, both of Fincastle; grandchildren, John Russell Alvis and wife, Stephanie, Jennifer Alvis Perry and husband, Mark; two great-granddaughters, Morgan Anne and Madison Grace Alvis, all of Concord; and one sister, Grace Obenshain Austin of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2000 at the Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Smith, the Rev. Ed Nicholson, and the Rev. Mike Grooms officiating. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home in Daleville.
