Constable Lewis Haley Field In the Circuit Court for the County of Greensville in vacation May 24, 1909. The Court being of the opinion that the public service requires a greater number of Constables in Belfield Magisterial District, of this County, that those specified in the Constitution, doth so enter of record, and doth designate one additional Constable in said Magisterial District, in conformity to Section No. 97. Of the Code of Virginia and acts amendatory thereof, and doth order that notice thereof be published in the said Magisterial District in the manner prescribed by law, and doth order that at the next general election for District Officers the said additional Constable, herein provided for shall be elected in the mode prescribed by law for the election of District Officers. And on the petition of many citizens of said County and District the Court doth appoint Lewis H. (Haley) Field of said County and Magisterial District such additional Constable, to serve until the additional Constable herein provided for, is elected and qualified according to law.
Virginia: - in the Clerk’s office of the Circuit Court for the County of Greensville, on the 26th day of June, 1909. L. H. Field, who has been duly appointed a Constable for Belfield Magisterial District of this County, to serve as such until the next general election for district officers and until his successor is duly elected and qualified, this day appeared before me, E. Peyton Turner, Clerk of the Circuit Court for the County aforesaid, in the Clerk’s office of said, and qualified as such Constable by taking and subscribing the several oaths prescribed by law, and, together with J. E. Spencer, T. J. Rowell, and George H. Plant, his sureties, who justified on oath as to their sufficiency as the law directs, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of five hundred dollars ($500.00), conditioned according to law, which said bond is ordered to be recorded.
