Enlisted inn Co.A/50th Tenn. Inf. Regt. age 19 years.

Served at water batteries at Ft. Donelson and written up in OR's for heroic action by Capt. T.W. Beaumont; escaped surrender and served with Lt. Col. Nathan Be. Forrest at Battle of Shiloh.

Rejoined Regt. Sept. 1862 and served in all major engagements, wounded twice; captured at Battle of Nashville and POW.

14th Tenn. Inf.

His brother was Sylvanius Trotter, born Montgomery Co., TN 18 Dec 1838 and died Dickson Co., TN 19 May 1923.

 Buried in Pleasant View Cemetery in Dickson Co., TN enlisted 1861 in Montgomery Co., TN in Co.B/14th Tenn. Inf.

And served in most major engagements. WIA at Seven Pines, POW at Point Lookout, MD; fought at Gettysburg and POW again at Petersburg, paroled 2 April 1865.
