Marriage Bond & Consent Record of
George Trotter to Caty Crooke Dated December 13th, 1772 Brunswick Co., VA.
Know all men by these presents that we, George Trotter & James Trotter, held and firmly bound unto our Sovereigh Lord, King George the Third, in the full and just sum of Fifty pounds current money of Virginia, to which payment ("so all"?) and truly to made unto our said lord and king, his heirs and successors, we bind ourselves, our heirs (Ex. and Adm.) jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 16th day of December 1772.
The condition of this obligation is such that if there be no lawful cause to obstruct, a marriage is shortly intended to be solemnized according to the rites and ceremonies of the Church of England, between the above bound George Trotter and Caty Crooke, Spinster, that then this obligation be void and of no effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue.
