Rev. Lloyd C. Looper, Greenville
The Rev. Lloyd Charles Looper, 76, husband of Doris Trotter Looper of 111 Yown Road, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, following a sudden illness.

He was predeceased by his first wife and partner in ministry, EstellePace Looper, and was a son of the late Dee Ervin and Christine Edens Looper of the Dacusville community.

A graduate of Dacusville High School, he was a World War II veteran and served as a tail-gunner with the 8th Air Force Division in the European Theater. In addition to his pastoral services, he was employed by Singer Manufacturing, Reliance Electric Co. and Shertech Pharmacy Services.

Rev. Looper accepted the Lord's call and was ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 1958 by Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. He served as pastor of Mount Tabor Baptist Church, Pickens; Shady Grove Baptist Church, Sunset; Mile Creek Baptist Church, Six Mile; Roanoke Baptist Church, Liberty; and Victory Chapel Baptist Church, Conestee. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent at Truth Missionary Baptist Church for a period of five years.

Rev. Looper was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Greenville, where he served on the deacon board, and was a member of the Senior Saints Sunday School Class.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles Daniel and Katy Looper of Middleburg, Va., Tommy Ervin and Virginia Looper of Myrtle Beach, James Marion and Priscilla Looper of Greenville, William Lloyd and Rosemary Looper of Easley, and Stephen Scott and Elizabeth Looper of Cleveland; stepchildren, James Trotter, Patricia Nix, Shelby Black, and Greg Trotter; sisters, Sara Nell Atkins, Opal Anthony, and Joan Garrett; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Edna Lee Looper; and a brother, the Rev. Wallace Robert Looper.

Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Clark and the Rev. David Roth officiating. Burial will be in Roanoke Baptist Church Cemetery, Liberty.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Steve Looper, Brian Looper, Joseph Looper, Timothy Looper, Jody Looper and Greg Trotter. Deacons of Freedom Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Memorials Fund of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 620 Pleasant Grove Road, Pickens, SC 29671.
