Louis Alfred Jacobson was born March 25, 1880 in Brooklyn, Dane County,
Wisconsin, the son of Rasmus JACOBSON and
Lena HANSON. He was a farmer. He married Sena Wilhelmina Fred(e)rickson May 16, 1903 in Stoughton, Dane Co,
WI, daughter of Andrew FRED(E)RICKSON
and Karen RASMUSSEN. Sena was born
March 2, 1884 in Denmark; her full name given on her birth record is Hansine
Vilhelmine Henrine Frederiksen. She
came to Wisconsin about 1893. Alfred
and Sena moved often, living at different times in Rutland, Dane Co; Chippewa
Falls, Trempealeau Co; Cooksville, Rock Co; Stoughton, Dane Co; and
Janesville, Rock Co. Alfred continued
to farm, but also worked as a general laborer. Alfred
died May 2, 1942 in Janesville and Sena died September 17, 1949. They are buried at Oak Hill Cemetery,
Janesville. The
children of Alfred Jacobson and Sena Fred(e)rickson are: Mabel Alvina Jacobson, born October 31, 1903 at
Rutland, Dane Co, WI; died January 31, 1969.
She married Melvin FESSENDEN in 1929. They lived in Rock Co and had three children. Alice Jacobson, born June 2, 1907 at
Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Co, WI; died July 31, 1934, Janesville, Rock Co,
WI. She married Orris GEORGESON about 1928 in Chicago,
IL. Alice was a nurse and Orris
worked at a dairy in Chicago. They
moved to Janesville, WI in 1934 and Orris commuted to and from Chicago while
trying to find work in Rock Co. One
day a mailman found Alice’s body in her kitchen. She had asphyxiated on gas from the oven. A coroner’s inquest decided she “probably”
committed suicide. Alice and Orris
had no children. Irving Leonard Jacobson, born January 29, 1909 at
Cooksville, Porter Twp, Rock Co, WI; died November 25, 1944 in Janesville,
Rock Co, WI. He married Marjorie Dora STONEY March 20, 1929 at
Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL. Irving
was a farmer and a factory worker.
They had four sons and two daughters.
At noon on Thanksgiving Day 1944, Irving’s car hit a milk truck on a
country road. He died of his
injuries. Left to raise six children
ages 2 to 15, Marjorie went back to college and vocational school, and became
an executive secretary at the Parker Pen Co in Janesville. Helen Marie Jacobson, born September 15, 1910
at Stoughton, Dane Co, WI; died June 30, 1983 in Milton, Rock Co, WI. She married Lester John TROON
June 9, 1928 at Rockford, Winnebago Co, IL.
Les farmed and worked at General Motors in Janesville for many
years. They lived in Janesville,
rural Rock Co, and in Milton, WI.
They had six children. Ralph (Rudy) Milo Jacobson, born January 5, 1913 at

daughter by a previous marriage. Ole
and Bonnie had three children. Juanita Jacobson, born February 19, 1918 in

September 1942. After Basic Training,
he was stationed in Massachusetts for six weeks, then left aboard ship to

Though I took great care in my research, you can
be sure to find errors ranging from typos to misinterpretations to inaccurate
assumptions. Please forgive me. In cases where I wasn’t sure about the accuracy of
facts, I tried to make the uncertainty clear in my presentation or else left
the data out. I personally researched and verified much of the
data you see on this page. Some of
the sources I used were: vital
records, such as birth, marriage and death records; published newspaper
accounts of events, including marriage announcements and obituaries; and
census records. Please contact me for source information applying to specific data. Thank you to the many Jacobson descendants who took the time to speak with me about your families. |
