Though they came from various places and their
descendants are now scattered, my families converged in southern Wisconsin in
the United States. I am learning a
great deal about them through the public records of their lives in the
counties where they settled. On these
pages, I share snippets from their histories.

Family of Stephen John TROON and Willa BARTLE

was born about 1871 in Ludgvan, Cornwall, England and immigrated to
Wisconsin; Willa was born 1880 in Dodgeville, Iowa County, Wisconsin. Willa’s ancestors include ROGERS and GRENFELL who emigrated from
England.

The Family of James APPLEBY and Susanna
PALMER

James was born 1827 in
England and immigrated to Wisconsin; Susanna was born 1830 in Kentucky and
moved to Wisconsin. They settled in
Richland County. Their sons
remained in Wisconsin. Their
daughters married DUNKEN and KEEPERS and went to Nebraska, LEWIS and went
to Kansas, and SANDERSON who stayed in Wisconsin.

Denmark and came to Brooklyn in southern Wisconsin as a young man; Lena was
born 1862 in Norway and came to Wisconsin about 1871. Their daughters married ANDERSON,
NELSON, JORGENSON, O’CONNOR, & SCHMIDT and many of their descendants
remain in Dane, Green, and Rock Counties.
