About the Author: My name is Dr. Arlen Walker Frank. I am a retired Research Chemist, and having spent my entire working career in research the transition from chemical research to genealogical research was relatively painless. My quest for my mother's ancestry began in earnest in 1998 during our first and only visit to Australia. At that time all I knew for certain was that both of my maternal grandparents were born in Australia (one in New South Wales and the other in Queensland), and that I knew the names of their parents but little else. I am deeply indebted to the persons named in the acknowledgements (p. 24) for filling in the blanks between the third and fifth generations. I am a fifth generation descendant of Josiah Henry WALKER and his wife Clarissa BALAAM (no. 44vi) and an eighth generation descendant of Thomas TRESLOVE (no. 1).
