George married Kathleen May DOUCH on 31 Dec 1923 in Constantinople. Kathleen was born on 7 May 1901 in Constantinople.
George Devine is one of the noted Treloars, being outstanding in several fields, including the theatre. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in World War One, serving with the 1st battalion Coldstream Guards, attached to the staff of the Commander of the Royal Artillery and had command of the Brigade of Guards School for officers at Bushey, near London.
After the Armistice he was assistant to General Holman. When the British Mission withdrew from Russia he joined the Russian Army for further military experience and attained the rank of full Colonel. Following his Russian service he had charge of Russian refugees in Turkey and Greece under the League of Nations. In 1929 he returned to Australia and gained prominence in broadcasting on foreign affairs. Decorations were commonplace in his career, some are as follows: Distinguished Service Order and Military Cross from Great Britain, the Russian orders of St.Vladimir with Crossed Swords & Bow; Order of St. Stanislaus, and St. Anne (Tsarist Russia), the Order of the Redeemer, Gold Cross, Greece and the Order of the Rising Sun (Japan).
Major Treloar's remarkable organising abilities were particularly recognised by the War Office when he was selected from all the British Army to fill the appointment of Commandant of the first post World War 1 Royal Military, Naval and Air Force Tournament, held at Olympia, London.
After the war he worked for two years voluntarily and continuously, endeavouring to ameliorate the hardship and sufferings of Russian refugees. Later when working with the League of Nations he drew up plans to resettle 1 million Greek agricultural refugees from Turkey.
Following these tasks he decided to return to commercial interests, but due to the devastating effects on trade in Europe he decided to return to Australia.
He pursued an active role in politics; being a foundation member of the Australian Party. He stood as a candidate for the seat of Ashfield in Sydney as a representative of the Australian Party.
