WATKINS, b. 17 Oct. 1854, 17 yrs. cns. 1870, Wisconsin; d. 8 Oct. 1881; bur. lot 955, Red Oak Junction Cemetery, Iowa, dau. of John Watkins, born in New York and Matilda J..............., b. Ohio. William Mitchellson Treloar md. secondly Elizabeth SILVER, d. 27 Oct. 1939, age 84, member of "Old Silver Family" of Harmony, Hartford Co., Maryland. The following biography is to be found at the National Archives in the Biographical Directory of the American Congress, call number JK1010-A5, page 1931.

"WILLIAM MITCHELLSON TRELOAR, a Representative from Missouri; born near Linden, Iowa County, Wisconsin 21 Sept. 1850, attended the common schools; moved to Mount Pleasant, Iowa in 1864 and attended the high school and the Iowa Wesleyan University at Mount Pleasant; moved to Missouri in 1872; taught English and music in Mount Pleasant College, Huntsville, Missouri, 1872-1875; moved to Mexico, Audrain County, Missouri in 1875 and taught in the Synodical Female College in Fulton Hardin College in Mexico, Missouri, and the public schools of Mexico, Missouri; delegate to the Republican State convention in 1894; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress, (March 4, 1895-March 3, 1897); unsuccessful candidate for re-election in 1896 to the Fifty-fifth Congress; appointed by President William McKinley, on March 22, 1898, postmaster of Mexico, Missouri and served until March 16, 1904; engaged in the music publishing business at Kansas City, Missouri in 1905; moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1915 and continued the music publishing business; also engaged in teaching and composing music; served as election judge 1920-1924; died in St. Louis, Missouri 3 July 1935, interment in Bellafontaine Cemetery."

In 1894 Prof. Treloar was drafted by the G.O.P. to run for Congress against the late Champ Clark in a heavily Democratic District. He defeated his distinguished opponent and served one term. The town of Treloar, Missouri was named for William Mitchellson Treloar not because he was a Representative in Congress but because he was a famous teacher of music.

i. Clara TRELOAR, b. about 1874, Red Oak, Iowa; d. 13 June 1918; md. 15 Dec. 1898 Henry H. LARIMORE. Clara's funeral was held at home of Mrs. Lutz in St. Louis. Family moved to Mexico, Mo. when Clara was 7 yrs. of age.

ii. Will TRELOAR, b. about 1876; d. Houston, Texas; md. twice; had son, Percy TRELOAR, who d. in teens and dau., Josephine TRELOAR

iii. Percy W TRELOAR, b. 22 Feb. 1877 Mexico, Missouri; d. 1957 Chicago, Illinois. s.p.

iv. Mabel I TRELOAR, d. young; bur. Lot 955 Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa.
