The following information is taken from my grandmother's book, "Tangled Roots and Twisted Branches" (published 1987), with some minor reformatting for the web. This book is known to contain some errors. If you have any corrections or additions, please contact me.
There are a couple of other items that I want to add to this page, but I have not had the opportunity to scan them yet.
There are two photocopies of the following document - an announcement of the probate of the will of Peter Barringer (ca. 1785 - 1860). One is a form filled out in handwriting and headed "People of the State of New York", and the other is apparently a clipping of an announcement possibly published in a newspaper and headed "State of New York, City and County of Albany". I have transcribed the printed clipping below. The type is very small in the copy I have and I hope I have not misread any words. Spelling of names is as near as I can make them out in the photocopy.

Barenger, Frederick William Barenger, Margaret, wife of John Ennist, Armanda, wife of Uriah Avery, Catharine, wife of Alsop H. Lane, June, wife of Andrew P. Avery, Fanny, wife of Gordon C. Boice, all of the town of Olive, in Ulster county; Peter Buly of the town of Marbletown, in said county; Lemuel Buly and Elizabeth, wife of James H. Eckert, residing in the state of Iowa, and all of full age, greeting:You and each of you are hereby cited to appear at a surrogate court, to be held before our surrogate of the county of Ulster, at his office in the village of Kingston, county of Ulster, at his office in the village of Kingston, in said county, on the 14th day of May next, at ten o'clock in the forenoon of that day, then and there to attend (if you see fit) the probate of the last will and testament of Peter Barenger, late of the town of Olive, Ulster county, deceased, presented to our surrogate to be proved and recorded as a will of real and personal estate, in pursuance of the statute, on the application of Michael Barenger, the executor named therein.
