Anna Marie Wilhelmine Wachtel
and
Walter Louis Schneider

Copied from newspaper clipping, probably from a newspaper in Cohoes, Albany Co., NY:

WACHTEL-SCHNEIDER

Yesterday afternoon at St. Paul's Church, Troy, Miss Anna M. Wachtel, niece of the late William Triebel of this city was united in marriage to Mr. Walter L. Schneider, of Troy.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. E. A. Enos.  The church was decorated with plants and ferns.  When the bridal party entered the church a wedding march was played.  Miss Hattie Wachtel, a sister of the bride, was brides maid, and Otto Lebman was best man.  The bride was neatly attired in a pearl white silk dress, with pearl trimmings and wore diamond ornaments.  The ceremony was followed by a reception at Germania Hall, at which nearly 200 guests were present and took occasion to bestow upon the newly married couple congratulations both numerous and hearty.  A banquet followed, the tables being decorated most beautifully and ladened with the delicacies of the season.  The first toast was proposed to the bride and groom and drunk with a heartiness of good luck that savored of inestimable fortune and health to the contracting parties.  A feature of the banquet was the presentation to the bride of an old shoe, found yesterday afternoon on the East Side by members of the H. T. K. club.  This was in keeping with an old German legend, which says that on the wedding day the gift of such a shoe invariably brings good luck to the bride on whom it is bestowed.  August Schlossler made the presentation speech.  The banquet over, dancing to the music of the band was enjoyed, Professor Henry Doring acting as master of ceremonies with Henry Schneider as assistant.  It was continued until an early hour this morning.  Mr. and Mrs. Schneider were the recipients of numerous and valuable presents from friends and will take up their residence at No. 868 River Street.
