Sarah (Bowman) Moore
(1823-1906)

SARAH BOWMAN, wife of the late Otis Moore, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Norman Kilmer, in this village, Wednesday morning, April 18, 1906, aged 83 years and 3 months.  Deceased was a daughter of the late Otis and Sarah Hicks Bowman; was born in the town of Milan, where her early years were passed.  She married Otis Moore, and moved to Rensselaer county, where they lived a number of years, later returning to Milan, which was their home until the death of her husband in 1886.  Since then she has lived with her children, the last years in this village.  She is survived by a brother, Jacob S. Bowman, and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas N. Davis and Mrs. P.R. Seeley, all of this village.  Her surviving children are Adelbert Moore, of Bridgeport, Conn., Mrs. Leonard Porter, of Stanford, Mrs. Grant Burger, of Milan, Mrs. Walter Hicks, Mrs. Norman Kilmer and Mrs. Lizzie Barton, of Pine Plains.  She was a member of the Milan Christian church, and a good woman in all respects.  She had a warm heart, and love for her family and kind consideration for all others, were prominent characteristics.  During the past year she had been afflicted with kidney trouble, but the cause of death was old age.  The end came quietly and peacefully.  There was no pang; no struggle; she lay as one in a pleasant sleep, when she ceased to breathe, the struggling spirit burst the walls of its clay tenement and winged its way to a brighter and better world, leaving a name and memory to be loved and cherished until those left behind are reunited with the dear mother and sister, where parting comes no more.
