Bertha (Bowman) Wirehouse
(1890 - 1983)


Bertha E. Wirehouse, 93, of Maple Street, Pine Plains, died at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, Monday, December 26, after a long illness.

A resident of Pine Plains since 1949, she previously lived in Milan in the community of Lafayetteville, where she owned and operated a rooming house with her husband, the late Fernando Wirehouse until 1949.

Born in Milan on November 18, 1890, she was the daughter of Otis and Ida Van Benscoten (sic.) Bowman.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Pine Plains.

She is survived by two nephews, Edward and Robert Bowman, both of Red Hook.

Calling hours will be at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Pine Plains on Wednesday, December 28, from 7 to 8 p.m.  Services are scheduled at the funeral home at 8 p.m.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Pine Plains.
