REUNION HELD FOR BOWMAN FAMILY SUNDAY

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Annual Reunion of Bowman Family Held Sunday - Local Man Compiled Interesting Data.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first annual re-union of the Bowman family was held Sunday, August 23, at the home of Mrs. Jane Bowman, wife of the late John Bowman, of Stanfordville, near Layefetteville (sic. - should be Lafayetteville).  Mrs. Bowman will be 94 years old in October and remained up all day, sitting on the porch and conversing with the many relatives.  Her son, Otis Bowman was the oldest and the young son of Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowman of Larchmond, was the youngest Bowman present.

This re-union is of the descendants of Maltiah and Roba Arnold Bowman.  In 1630, two brothers, Nathaniel and Benjamin Bowman came from England and settled in Rhode Island, this company of Sunday's re-union being the line of Benjamin Bowman.  Mrs. Clara Rymph read some interesting Bowman data which Horace Bowman has compiled.  The following were elected officers for the coming year:  Mrs. Rose Bowman Myers, president; Wilber J. Bowman, vice-president; Otis Bowman, secretary.  The 1937 re-union will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Fowler (Rosalie Bowman), at Millbrook.

Delicious refreshments of sandwiches, baked beans, salad, pickles, cheese, cake and coffee were served at noon, including a cake, made by Mrs. Horace Bowman, bearing the dates, 1630 - 1936.  Beautiful flowers, including gladiolus, zinnias and sweet peas, were brought for the occasion.
