The descendants of Maltiah and Roba Arnold Bowman held their annual re-union at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bowman and Otis Bowman near Lafayetteville, Sunday, August 9 and was attended by approximately 50 relatives and guests.
A delicious luncheon was served at noon and a business meeting and election of officers followed, with Otis Bowman, presiding. The officers elected for 1943 were as follows: President, George A. Bowman; vice-president, Otis Bowman; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. Irving Haight. Appointments were Mrs. Edward Hericourt, historian and Mrs. Franklin Bowman, assistant; program committee, Clara Robinson, William Budd and J. Virgil Fowler. The reunion will be held next year at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward T. Byrne, at Clinton Corners. A short program was given consisting of trumpet and French horn duet, "America", by Edward and Robt. Bowman; trumpet solo, "Tell Me the Story of Jesus," Edward Bowman, Jr., also vocal duets by the Bowman brothers. Mrs. Angelene Houston gave a talk, followed by group singing of hymns and "Blest Be the Tie".
Four generations were represented in one family, Mrs. Elma Simmons, Harrison Simmons, and Warren Simmons Sr. and Warren Simmons, Jr.
Marriages, births and deaths in the Bowman family occurring during the year were: Eleanor Piester and Edward Hericourt, married Jan. 17, 1942; Winifred Byrne and J. Leslie Hadden, Oct. 4, 1942; births, Warren Simmons, Jr. born Feb. 25, 1942; deaths, Horace Bowman, president of the association, Alice Bowman and Charles Hicks.
