James R. Burnside. This is a cabinet card, about 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/4 inches. Writing on the front reads: "Yours Truly Jas. R. Burnside age 23 yrs". The back is addressed to "Miss Mollie S. Havis, Marshall, Texas" and dated December 25, 1883. The photographer is listed on the back as "Star Gallery, Cor. McNeil & Texas Sts., Shreveport, La.".
Hattie Darrow. This photo is about 4 1/4 inches by 7 inches. Photographer information on the front reads: "Sanders, 503 1/2 Austin Street, Waco, Texas"
Sonise Diffner or Deffner of Germany. The writing is faded and hard to make out. This is a carte de visite, about 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches. The word "Schönliber" appears to be written on the back under her name. I don't know whether this might be a surname. The number '87 is also written on the back - I cannot tell whether this is part of the inscription or was put there by a dealer. On the front, the photographer's name and address are given as "F. Brandseph, K. Württ. Hof-Photograph, Stuttgart." Information on the back reads as follows:
UPDATE: Miss Diffner has been claimed and has gone to stay with relatives in the northwest.

"Bob and Willie Hobbs". This photo is about 6 inches by 8 inches. I cropped most of the cardboard mount to try to reduce file size. The photo is stained and there is some kind of rip or scrape across the image just above Mr. Hobbs' head. They are both wearing matching pins or brooches, apparently portraits of each other. There is no further information on the photo.
"Mary Eugenia Leachman
Dallas
Age 2 yrs
For our dear aunt Sallie"
Photographer information on the front reads: "J. H. Webster, High-Priced Photographer, Dallas, Texas"
UPDATE: This photo has been claimed by a relative in New Jersey.
Bertha Mayer of Germany. This is a carte de visite, about 2 1/2 inches by 4 inches. The word "Marie" is barely visible just under Bertha's name and the number '87 is written next to her name. I cannot tell whether these are original markings or something put there by a dealer. On the front, the photographer's name and address are given as "Maler C. Pfann, Hofphot. Stuttgart." Information on the back is much more ornate and extensive and reads:
Die Platte ist zu Nachbestellungen aufbewahrt. Vervielfältigung vorbehalten."
Photographer information on the front reads: "The Notman Photographic Co., Limited. 3 Park Street and 184 Boylston Street, Boston"
Photographer information on the back reads:
Ea. A. Smith, E????att, Mass., "room mate". This is a cabinet card, about 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/4 inches. It has what appear to be light fungus spots across the image. Photographer information on the front reads: "Hastings, 147 Tremont St., Cor. West St., Boston, Mass. Branch at 10 Bath Road, Newport, R. I." Back reads almost the same:
Frances Scott Starks. This is a cabinet card, about 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/4 inches. The photographer is listed on the front of the photo as "Brock, Asheville, N. C." The message on the back of the card reads:
(Miss) Frances Scott Starks
Searcy, Arkansas
P. O. Box 344
Please return to the above address
I thought returning it to that address might not work after all this time and decided to post the photo here instead. ;-)
E. A. Sturgiss. This is a cabinet card, about 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/4 inches. It is badly stained. I was able to fix the contrast somewhat in the above image, but the stains were too many and too bad to do much with. The photographer is listed on the front as "Vail Brothers, 254 & 256 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, N. Y."
