| Old Burial | Jenner | On Henry Zimmerman farm about 1 1/2 mi SW of Stoystown. Farm previously owned by Short. A Gardner took out patent from State. According to Mr Zimmerman's father who told him about the old graveyard supposedly containing 23 graves and showed him its location. It was grown over with sassafras trees which Mr Zimmerman cut down. He noticed a plot of land of 40 X 50 ft slightly elevated. The gravelike appearance of surface of the plot and regular placing of a few flat fieldstones indicate a burial plot. Two people known to be buried there are a Mr Burkey reported to be first buried there and a Mr Gardner who choked to death on a piece of meat while attending a party at this place. |
