Valley Township - named for the valley of Cowanshannock Township, Dec. 13, 1855.  First settled about 1789, its pioneers included Dewalt Mechline, Robert Semple, James Thompson, James and Robert Patrick, James Sloan, Henry and Alexander Shrecengost, Frederick Yockey, George Williams, Adam and Thomas Beer, and Daniel Guld.
