Berwick Township, Adams County, PA
Berwick Township was one of the original townships in this county, it was formed from York County in 1800. Hamilton Township was taken from Berwick in 1810 and in 1847 Berwick Township was further reduced when Oxford Township was formed.
Abbottstown - It was surveyed and plotted in 1755 by John Abbott. Ten years later the first lot was sold to Jacob Pattison. The Emanuel Reformed Church was founded during the Revolution and the building erected in 1777. The "Stone Church" was built in 1747/1748. St. John's Lutheran Church was built of logs in 1782 or 1783, it was destroyed by fired in 1829 and the records were burned. A brick building was erected in 1830.
