INTRODUCTION

During the research of our family histories in the United States we have noted that most of our ancestral branches had migrated from place to place during the 18th and 19th centuries.  We believe that it is important to note these migrations as well as to attempt to determine what routes they may have taken to obtain their next destination.   Along the way the undoubtedly passed through many U.S. States and there associated counties and in doing so possibly left records of their presence.  Thus by understanding the probable migratory routes of our ancestors we may be able to better ascertain where to look for documents that may assist in our research.

In the following section you will find the Index of Migration Routes that contains a listing of all of the Roads, Trails, Paths, etc. included in this webpage.  Each of these routes has been given an abbreviated route indicator, (KR=Knoxville Road), and is linked to its counterpart located within a following section of this page.

The next section is an Index of Ancestors that has been designed so that you may quickly determine  the surname and given names of the ancestors we’ve included as well as the migratory routes they may have taken in their efforts to find a better place to live.  Click on the associated route indicator to find additional information as provided within a following table.

The Table Of Ancestral U. S. Migrations has been designed to provide information about our ancestors and the migratory route we believe they could have taken to from where we know they lived to where they are found at a later date.  Also included is the approximate year of the migration as well as additional comments regarding where they settled or what potion of the overall trail they may have taken.  Each migratory route is linked to an internet page that will provide the researcher with more in depth information the may further assist with the research process.
