Center Cemetery
Chesterfield, MA

Running up a hill away from North Road, which leads from the center of Chesterfield toward Goshen, Center Cemetery measures about 400' wide by about 440' deep.

One main gravel access road runs between the cemetery and a broad meadow on the north (right) side. Two older, now grass covered, access paths run from the stone wall across the North Rd. side of the graveyard towards the west side.

The south side, or left as looking at from the main road, is tree lined behind an old stone wall.

The west side, or rear from the road, is also thickly tree lined behind an iron fence. Behind the line of trees lies another meadow.

Tall pines run up the south side within the boundaries of the cemetery. There is a 12' wide mausoleum alongside the old access path where it meets North Rd.

The oldest stone are located in the A & B sections along North Road. The "right" side, sections E & F is the newest section of the cemetery, being used today. There are over 1,093 tombstones here in this, the largest of the Chesterfield cemeteries. For organization, I have broken the graveyard down into six sections, and have given each its own page. The red letters above denote the sections and pages as I have divided them.

All the stones soon will be included on the index page http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~torrey/full index.htm and linked to the section of the cemetery where they lie.
