Family History

We do not "own" the data on our ancestors that is found in the public domain, i.e., birth, census, marriage, death records and other published documents. However, we do own the private family stories that have been given to us, along with the format in which we choose to place this "public" data. Therefore, extract the data that you need to supplement your own family research, but do not copy or use the entire formated data. This would be a copyright infringement, and you would not want to suffer the consequences of that. If there is something in any of my family histories that you would like to use in a publication, you MUST get written permission from me. Having said all this, if you want the data to compile histories to hand down to your children or grandchildren, God Bless YOU and yours!
I would like to thank all the Caring and Sharing researchers, kith and kin who shared their data with me.

"Allie Irene NASH, b. 3 Dec 1892 Wilkes Co., Ga., was the daughter of Robert Hudson NASH (b. 1 Dec. 1860, Wilkes Co., Ga. - d. 16 Jun 1944, Suwannee Co., Fl.) and Mary Lue SAYER (b. 11 Jan 1860 Wilkes Co., Ga. - d. 18 Jul 1939 Suwannee Co., Fl.) She had two older brothers, both born in Elbert Co., GA, James Gordon (1884-1943) m. Arline ? - known children: Travis, Arline, Grace, Laura;, Junie (Junius?) Tapley (1886-?); & an older sister, Rosie May (1890-?) born in Rome, GA m. Ed. Bryant (8 children) lived in TX. A younger sister, Nobie Estell (1894GA -1932FL) was also born in Wilkes Co., GA. Nobie m. 1921 FL Cleveland Poole.
"Irene" spent her first 3 years in Ga., moving to TX about 1895. It is not known what other Nash or Sayer family members moved with them, but it is surmised by the family that this was a GA to TX cattle drive.

While in TX, there were 3 more members added to Irene's family; Robert Watson "Bob" (1896 Ronola Co., TX - 1932 Vet. hosp in Dakotas) m. 1926 Rodie Fennel in FL (she d.1928); Barney Lee (1898 Ronolo Co., TX-?) m. ? known children, Andrew & Marvin; Anthony Boyd (1901 Denton Co., TX - 1933FL)- unmarried ? Either Gordon or Barney (or both) lived in AR.

In 1912, the Nash family (it is unknown if there were other Nash or Sayer family members with them) drove a heard of cattle into Suwannee Co., FL from TX. Irene was 16 years old at this time & an experienced horsewoman. The family settled on property just east of Live Oak, FL, where they continued ranching & farming. When Irene was 23 years old, she met ("it was love at first sight") James Newton (Jim) Mims at a "party one summer night", and they were married the following 15 November 1916.

Irene was an expert horsewoman, & mean with cow-whip antics. She helped her husband clear & farm land on two separate farms that they purchased in Suwannee Co., FL. She was just as at home on a tractor as she was on a horse. She was very intelligent & educated. In her last years, she tended a back-yard garden & furnished hand-made quilts to the "old folks home" in Dowling Park, Suwannee Co., FL.

After the death of her husband in 1969, Irene remained on her "small farm" just down the road from her beloved Clayland Baptist Church. She truly had a "green thumb" & was happiest with a hoe in hand working in her garden. Her health failing, she spent the last year or two of her life with her daughter Cecial Ellen Mims-Brim in Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL, dying in Cecial's home 10 December 1988.

As with most life histories, genealogy is a twisting, winding, never ending road for researchers.
I hope to add more to these families in the near future. Help on discovering more about this Nash ancestry is greatly appreciated.
