Elijah Hunt's Will

In the name of God amen I Elijah Hunt of the county of Rowan and the state of North Carolina being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory know that this is appointed for all men once to die so make and ordain this my last will and testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of almighty God that gave it. My body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but I shall receive the same at the general resurrection by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to help me in this life. I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I allow my executors to sell as much of my property as will satisfy and pay all my just debts, secondly I do give and bequeath to my well beloved son John my ? ? ? * thereunto belonging. eth the land which I now possess together with all the moveable property not here willed and bequeathed so long as she remains a widow in my name. If she marry or at her decease, I allow all my moveable property to be sold and the money to be equally divided among all my children. Likewise I allow all my lands to be equally divided among all my children and for the better execution of this my last will and testament I hereby appoint William Wiseman and Robert Wilson the sole executors of my last will and testament , and I do hereby utterly revoke, disallow and disannul all other former wills or bequeaths by me made heretofore, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this eighteenth day of June in in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one.
