Granville County, North Carolina Will of JAMES HUNT 24 Nov. 1794 - proved February 1798 In the name of God I James Hunt of Granville County and State of North Carolina being thro devine goodness of god of Sound Mind and Memory do make and constitute this my last will and testament Commiting my body to be dessently buried in the dust and my Soul into the hands of my most Merciful Creator and Redemer Imprimis I give and bequeath to My dear wife Sarah Hunt the following nineteen negroes, Edom, Cesor, James, Going, Sall, Cate William Mime Stephen Jenny Lucy Seshee Moses Hercules Harry Anney Peter John & Paul with all their future increase together with choice four horses also my waggon also my Crop on hand also all my Reddy money also all the Money due me on bonds and notes of hand also her choice of twenty head of Cattle also her Choice of fifty hogs and twenty Sheep my Smith's tools and all my Plantation tools and all my household and kichen furniture to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to my Nephew James Hunt one negroe man named Sharper to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to John Ravens Junor my tract of land in Parsons County on the hed Rich land Creek Containg[sic] three hundred and Seventeen acres to him and his heirs forever I give and bequeath to William Hunt son of William Hunt my Negroe Man Frank and my woman Vina and all her future Increase to him and his heirs forever I give to Frankey Blackwell my Negroe boy Jacob to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Mary Butler my Negroe girl Isbell and all her increase to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Bennitt my Negroe Boy Peter to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Sarah Hicks my Negroe girl Milley which she has now in her possion[sic] and all her increase to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to James Hunt son of James Hunt Dece s- my Negroe boy Rubin to him and his heirs foreverItem I give and bequeath to Nancy Hunt Daughter James Hunt Dec s- my Negroe girl Barbary and all her Increase to her and heirs foreverItem I give and bequeath to Amey Smith my Negroe [illegible word] woman Mary and her two Children Milley and Vilet and all their future Increase to her and her heirs forever- Item I give and bequeath to my Sister Kindness Breedlove Ravens two Negroes Ned and Charles to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to John Ravens Junor my man Efraim to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to George Hunt son of John Hunt my Negroe boy named bob to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Samuel Hunt son of John Hunt My Negroe Man Named Little Ned to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to David Hunt the Son of John Hunt my Negroe boy Davey to him and his heirs forever- Item I give and bequeath to William Hunt Son of William Hunt my Negroe man Frank and my Negroe woman vine and all her future Increase to him and his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Sarah Beasley my Negroe girl Named Amy and ["to her and" interlined] and all her Increase to her and her heirs forever- Item I give and bequeath to Samuel Hunt son of William Hunt My Negroe man Named Dick to him and her heirs forever Item I lend to my loving wife Sarah Hunt all my lands and Plantation whereon I Now live dureing her Natural life, and at her death to be sold by my Executors to the highest bider and the Money ariseing from Such Sale to be equally Devided between George Hunt Samuel Hunt James Hunt son of William Hunt and William Hunt son of William Hunt to them and their heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Ann Kindrick my Negroe boy Jack to her and her heirs forever Item I give and bequeath to Mary Whitlow my Negroe girl Cresce and all her increase to her and her heirs forever Item I give three pounds a year for five years for the support of the Gosple in grasse Creek Congregation- Item I give all the Remainder my horses Cattle Sheep and hogs Exceping them all reddy given also my Still to be sold to the highest bidder by my Executors and the money ariseing from Such Sale be equally Devided between Amy Easley Elizabeth Claton Judeth Jackson Mary Briant and Lucy Biass to them and their heirs forever Lastly I make constitute and appoint George Hunt John Hunt and James Hunt Executors and Sarah Hunt Executrix of this my last will and Testament and hereby Revoak and disanul all former wills by me hereto fore by me made and Declar this to be my last will and testament & Sealed [by?] my Seal and Dated this 24th day November one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety four the words with all their future Increase My.... his Presents of us [Granville County North Carolina Will Book 4, pages 177, 178, 179, 180.
