The Estate of Judith Hunt Parker

Thought maybe you or the page could use the 1679 inventory of the estate of Judith (Burton?) Hunt Parker,

widow of William Hunt of Isle of Wight, VA; the same Wm. who gained Nansemondpatent land in 1653

(not 1635, as some have said). He died in 1668 and was the father of William Hunt, Jr. (b.c. 1652) of

W, Surry, etc.,and is not to be confused with the 1699 Wm........

Notice the boxed date; the boxed entry showing the couple of hundred lbs. of raw pewter, there again

revealing that Judy's 2nd husband, Richard Parker, was a pewterer/brazier; the boxed entry revealing

a "pey peel" which we have not identified; the historically very remarkable (boxed) entry revealing a

"recorder, 2 flutes and an oboe" (a truly remarkable collection of musical instruments to be foundin

the 17th century); and finally, the entry showing a "Billiard andPea" - the game we today call "pea pool."

Judy's inventory is so noteworthy and revealing of wealth that Bruce in his great "Economic History of

Virginia in the Seventeenth Century" (1896, I think) used it as a source for that period.
