Ethel Stafford Obituary
Ethel M. Stafford, 94 of Ashaland, formerly of Iron River and Cable,
died Friday, Jan. 6, 1995, at Court Manor Nursing Home in Ashland.
She was born July 25, 1900, in Iron River, the daughter of Calvin and
Alice (Ferguson) Rogers. She was a graduate of Columbia High
School in Iron River in 1919. She attended Normal School in
Superior. She taught school for several years and married Almon
Emmet Stafford on Aug. 18, 1928, in Hibbing, Minn. He died in
July of 1865. She had lived for many years in Iron River and
Cable, and had been a Ashland resident since 1981. Mrs. Stafford
was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by one sone, Gene A. (June) Stafford, Iron River; two
daughters, Constance (Mel) Agen, Grand View, and Shirley (William)
Lamppa, Embarrass, Minn.; 11 Grandchildren and many great-granchildren.
Besides her husband, she was proceded in death by her parents, a son,
Jerry Stafford, in November of 1991, four brothers, Harry, Sam, Ben and
Ted, and her beloved sister Elsie.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Roberts
Funeral Home in Ashland. Mr. Reginald Bonitz will
officiate. Spring burial will take place in the Iron River
Cemetery in Iron River.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral
home.
