 October 4, 1839- February 5, 1935

Tilman married Susan Cox (July 29, 1833- Nov. 17, 1913). Their daughter Laura was born July 6, 1865. When in her 50's Laura married the widower Winfield Scott 'Win' Garland (1862-1935). In early September 1934 Laura fell and broke her hip, and then contracted pneumonia while bedridden. On December 9, 1934 she died. On June 26, 1935 'Win' Garland and a young woman named Buna Teague were shot and killed on the family farm; although in 1936 three persons were indicted for the murders, no one was ever convicted of the crime.
