There are two Wilson families which may or may not be related:
JAMES W. WILSON (Feb. 8, 1808- July 31, 1898). He was
the son of a William James Wilson (b. 1774). James Wilson was born in Burke
County. He settled on White Oak Creek at Bakersville.
His first wife was named Mahala, with whom he had 11 children. After Mahala's death he remarried Mary Anna 'Emily' Ollis.

MARTHA 'PATTIE' WILSON
(Feb. 8, 1771- April 14, 1866).She was apparently the daughter of Thomas
Wilson (b. ca. 1735) of Brunswick County, VA. In 1758 Thomas Wilson married
Elizabeth McLin, also of Brunswick County; she was the daughter of William
McLin (d. 1800).
Thomas Wilson and Elizabeth McLin had children Elizabeth (b. 1759), Thomas (b. 1765), George (b. 1765), John (b. 1767), Edward (b. 1769), Martha (b. 1771), and William (b. 1773), who might be the father of the James Wilson listed above.
