ALPHONZO “FONZ” YOUNG (May 22, 1878- June 2, 1934) m. Mary
Alice Hoyle (1890- 1962), the daughter of John Hoyle and Harriet Grindstaff
of Snow Creek, Mitchell County.
Children: Edith Young (Feb. 28, 1909- ) m. 1st Roy O’Shield m. 2nd Pat Biddix Floyd Young (July 30, 1913- June 13, 1977) m. Nettie Hensley Julius Decatur “Cate” Young (December 23, 1917- July 12, 1995) m. Sarah Presnell Fonz Young and his family moved from the Arbuckle community to Marion in about 1918. There he built a house in which his daughter Edith still lives, and he worked at Clinchfield Mills until suffering a stroke in the late 1920’s. After his death, his body was transported back to Arbuckle and buried in the Young cemetery. |
