ETTA YOUNG (May 22, 1883- March 10, 1964)
Etta was the illegitimate daughter of Joe Tarp Young and his neighbor Alexander Fortner’s wife, Sue Young Fortner. Joe Tarp acknowledged Etta as his daughter. When she was a young girl, she moved into Joe Tarp’s household.
Etta’s first child, Ralph (“Shack”), was born while Etta was a teenager, and “Shack” lived with his grandfather Joe Tarp. Etta later married Sam Gouge (the son of Bob Gouge and Aletha Willis), and lived on Arbuckle. In 1931 Etta, her husband, and all her children except Tish moved to Baltimore, MD.
