After
accumulating a large collection of information about the people
and places in and around the area of Todmorden and Walsden, we
decided to create a website so we could share it with others.
We first met by chance in November 2002, both searching for our
families and ancestors in the area, and discovered we have a mutual
ancestor. From then onwards our family tree, like our friendship,
has blossomed. Neither of us were strangers to Walsden. Each of
us spent many happy days of our childhood visiting the village;
oblivious to the part it was going to play in our later lives.
The information on these pages was lovingly collected and we hope
that it may be of help to anyone with an interest in the area. We
would appreciate any contributions or suggestions for things you
would like to see on the site. |

Can anyone help with the following appeal? |
| |
I am studying for a PhD at the University of Huddersfield, researching into church cricket throughout Calderdale from c.1860 to about the time of the Second World War. I am associated with and contribute to the Cricketing Heritage of Calderdale & Kirklees’ Project, which you may have come across.
If anyone may be able to help me in my investigation of church cricket in the Calder Valley through personal experience, knowledge of a particular church or chapel that supported the game, or knows where there are records or other materials relating to the subject, I would be really grateful if you could get in touch with me:
E-mail: dokjan@tesco.net Tel: 01422 201955
Many thanks,
Dennis O’Keefe |
