John Wlason, oldest child of William Todden and Mary Jane Shepherd, was born July 27,1873, in Wayne Co., Iowa. His middle name was spelled Wlason, with a silent "W", according to some family members an 'old family name, spelled in the German way'.

John married Rhoda Malinda "May" Hodge, December 23, 1897, in Mercer Co., Missouri. Mae was a daughter of James and Louisa(Wiggins) Hodge. There is another Todden connection to the Hodge family: Mae's brother Thomas Martin Hodge, married Veta Wright, a granddaughter of William Todden, Sr., John Wlason Todden's uncle. Five children were born to John and May: Goldie Irene, Eva Lorraine, James Ronald, Kenneth Ira, and Harry Dwain.

John died in November 1941, at Iowa City, Iowa, of Hotchkins disease. Mae died September 24, 1979, in DesMoines, Polk Co., Iowa. They are buried in the Princeton, Missouri cemetery.

According to family members, John owned, traded and sold multiple properties in Princeton, Missouri. He also built his own home. He received property in the will of his uncle Claus, who died in 1903.

  Obituary, John Todden, from The Desert Sun, 1/16/2001. " John Richard Todden, 65, of Palm Desert died Jan.11, 2001 in Mission Hills.  He was born Aug. 4, 1935 in Iowa.  He was an executive with Thrustair, Inc.
  he is survived by his wife, Arpi, of Pam desert; two daughters, Becky Bridgeford of Can Marcos and Tina Csiszar of Saugus; his son, Rob of Canyon County; his stepson, David Movsesian of Palm Desert; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eternal Valley Mortuary Chapel, Newhall.  The family suggests donations to Cancer Center, Holy Cross Hospital, Mission Hills."
