This site is dedicated to all those eventually-American families, who left their homes and known dangers for the unknown wilds of Tennessee. Most especially, I dedicate this to the women of those families, whose names and faces sometimes remain anonymous, but without whom the real taming and building of a new country would have been impossible.

In Memoriam
Pat Roberts McDonald, author of the popular genealogy website Roots of Roane, and daughter of Roane, TN, historian Snyder Roberts, passed away early on the morning of Friday January 29, 2010 at her home in Houston (Spring), Texas.
Pat loved her Tennessee roots and freely shared her knowledge with others of like mind.
