13. ENSIGN JOSEPH JEWETT (Maximillian, Edward) was born in Rowley, Mass 1 Feb 1654. He married there 2 March 1676 to REBECCA LAW, daughter of William and Mary Law. She was born 1 Apr 1655. She died 26 Dec 1729 in Rowley. "Rebecca Jewet wife of Ensign Joseph Jewett who lay long in a sad disconsolate condition, but was (we hope) lifted into joy Decembr 27, 1729." (Ch. R.)

He married second 20 Jan 1731/2 in Bradford, Mass to widow Mary Gage of Bradford. Her will, dated 8 Jul 1738; proved 27 Jul 1741, mentions; herself as being advance in years to a great age. Also mentions son Nathaiel Gage, son John Green of Bradfors, daughters Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Palmer of Bradford, Mary wife of Benjamin Thurston of Bradford.
Joseph Jewett lived in Rowley, was made a freeman 9 Jul 1684 and was Representative to the General Court for the years 1718 and 1719. He was active in town affairs and was a man of energy and character. He was a soldier in King Philip's War, serving first in Capt. Joseph Gardiner's Co. (of Salem), who was killed in this war, and later in Major Appleton's Co. Was in the list of 29 Feb 1675-6. He was in the Narragansett Campaign and for his services received £2. 14s. and a grant of land. (There is an account of this campaign that I will add at a later date) Joseph Jewett died 29 Oct 1735 in Rowley. The church record by Rev. Jedediah is as follw: "1735 My Grandfather Joseph Jewett, in the 81st. year of his age, Oct 29."

JONATHAN JEWETT (Joseph, Maxmilian, Edward) was born 11 Mar 1678-9 and baptized 16 Mar 1678-9 in Rowley, Mass. "Jonathan Jewet son of Joseph and Rebecca born March the 11 day 1678." (Ch.R.) He married 24 Jan 1699-1700 in Rowley to MARY WICOM, daughter of John and Abigail Kimball Wicom. She was born in Newbury, Mass. and baptized 18 Jan 1679. She died at Exeter, NH while there on a visit. The Church Record of her death by Rev. Jedediah Jewett is as follows: "My Mother Mary Jewet at Exeter May 14, 1741."
He married second at Newbury, Mass to Mrs. Rebecca (Hale) Poor. "Mr. Jonathan Jewett of Rowley & Mrs. Rebecca Poor of Newbury married Dec. 27, 1742 by ye Rev. Mr. John Lowell." (Rowley Record) She died 16 Mar 1760 in the 77th year of her age. Jonathan resided on Bradford St., in Rowley. He was a tanner, land owner and a farmer. He was one of the Grantees (Proprietors) of Buxton, Maine. "The General Court of Massachusetts passed an act granting certain Townships to officers and soldiers who participated in the Narragansett War, or to their lawful representatives. One of the Townships was called Narragansett No. 1, now Buxton, Maine, and like the other towns was granted to 120 persons." A meeting of the Proprietors was held on Nov. 17, 1735 and under that date is recored the drawing of the lots of the First Division, which afterwards commonlly called Home lots by the settlers. Mr. Jonathan Jewett drew Lot No. 6, Section G, on the right of his father Joseph Jewett.
The Church Record of his death by Reb. Jeediah Jewett is as follows: "1745 My Father Jonathan Jewett July 26." His will dated 4 Jul 1745, proved 23 Sep 1745, mentions sons Joseph and Benjamin who are to have lands in Nottingham, NH and Jedediah, Jacob, Mark, Moses, daughters Mehitable Thurston and Sarah Hoyt.

He married second 10 Mar 1724 to MARTHA PEARSON, daughter of Stephen and Mary (French) Pearson of Rowley. She was born 6 Jul 1689 and died 26 Oct 1752. He married third by the Rev. Jedediah Jewett on 22 May 1753 Mrs. Mary Hovey, daughter of Caleb and Elizabeth (How) Jackson. She was born 28 Nov 1685 and died 27 Nov 1761.
Aquila was one of the Grantees of Buxton, Maine. "Mr. Aquila Jewett on the right of Samuel Kneeland received lot No. 17, range E in Narragansett No. 1, now Buxton, Maine." (Please see Jonathan above for more information on the Narragensett campaign) He lived in Rowley where he was deacon of the Rowley Church. He died 26 Nov 1760. "Uncle Aquila Nov 26, 1760." His will, dated 6 Dec 1759, proved 22 Dec 1760, mentions wife Mary, three sons at Littleton, viz., William, Ezra, and Abel, who have had their portion; three eldest daughters, Mehitable, Rachel, and Elizabeth; daughters Ann, Bethiah and Priscilla; sons Stephen and Amos; grandson Aquila to have the great Bible; son Jeremiah to have the residue and to be exector.

WILLIAM JEWETT (Aquila, Joseph, Maximilian, Edward) was born 15 Jul 1705. He was baptized the same day. He married 8 Jun 1727 to HANNAH PICKARD, daughter of Capt. Samuel and Elizabeth (Hale) Pickard. She was born in Rowley and baptized 3 Feb 1706. William was called Lieutenant and lived in Littleton, MA where he died in 1786. She died there 15 Feb 1771.

MAXIMILIAN JEWETT (William, Aquila, Joseph, Maximilian, Edward) was born 16 Jun 1741 in Littleton, MA. He married in Rowley, MA by Rev. Jedediah Jewett 26 Aug 1766 to REBECCA BURPEE of Rowley. They settled in Littleton, from which town he was a solier in the Revolution. "Maxi. Jewett, Littleton, Private, Lieut Aquila Jewett's co., of militia, Co. James Prescott's regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service 2 days." He later moved and settled on a farm near Bloomfield, now a part of Skowhegan, ME where he died 16 Oct 1823.

SAMUEL JEWETT (Maximilian, William, Aquila, Joseph, Maximilian, Edward) was born 13 Aug 1776 in Littleton, MA. He married in Bloomfield, Maine to BETSEY STEWARD, daughter of Solomon Steward of Bloomfield. Samuel was a farmer and settled in Norridgewock, Me. Later he moved to Canaan, Me where he died in 1857. Betsey died there in 1849.
