UPDATES FOR THE YEAR 2008
JAN.2,2008...I hope this will be a great year for everyone. I added the updates from 2007 under past updates. I started this year out with 372 pages on this site and hope to add much more this year. You will find genealogy from Jefferson County that isn't part of my family tree on my site for I am adding articles that I found in my mothers things and what I have come across that I feel might be of interest to people with ties to Jefferson Co., New York.
JAN.22,2008... I have been adding more entries to Grandma Bamfords Diaries. I am on the year 1894. CONGRATULATION to Karl & Merry they have a new baby girl. Check under odds & Ends then new arrivals. Merry is the great granddaughter of Muriel Bamford.
Feb. 2,2008.... I reworked my site map so to make easier to find something. Added more Bamford Diaries. I added another obit to my Vincent line. June Arleen (nee:Vincent) Angers passed away Jan.25,2008 age 90 My prayers go out to her family.
March 4,2008.....I recieved some information on my Cates family line from Barry George. He also sent a picture of John Morgan Cates (1771-1825) which I added to old Photo's. Thank you Barry, without people like you this site would not be possible. I also have added more to the Bamford Diaries.And plan on adding wedding photos to this site some time this week.
March 26,2008....Most of you know my sister Nancy passed away on Easter Sunday. I have added her obit and am doing a page in her memory which I will add to when ever I find things I want to add. I will miss her for we have always been very close. We lived within miles of each other most of my life. My other sister Marjorie and brothers Leon and Laurence all lived in Jefferson Co. New York. Her husband Dave has a gravesite memorial planed around the 4th of May in New York. I have kept busy today adding more of the Bamford Dairies to my site. I am 1/2 way thru the year 1894. I find comfort in the old diaries.
March 27,2008....Rootsweb is adding ancestry to their html address and in the process some of the graphic's were lost. Have patience if they can't fix them I can in a few days upload them again. Wanted to let you know why there are all the little red X's in a box.
April 9,2008....I added a link to Ancestry Connections which is a web site where you can register your surnames.It is on my research page. Added more diary enteries.I will be in New York the first week in May for my sister's memorial service which is on May 4.
April 16,2008...My brother Leon & wife Debbie became first time grandparents on April 4,2008. Noah Yusuf Dickinson was born to their son Alex Dickinson and Maham Sindhu. Noah was early but weighed almost 5 lbs. and a beautiful healthy baby. Pictures under new arrivals.
April 27,2008...I added some new pages under my photo's my great grandchildren,my bother Leon's grandchildren and my sister Marjorie's grandchildren. Also I have added some more names and dates to my other site.I have been working on the Gibson line & still have more to add to it. Genealogy is a never ending project. I will be gone from the 30th to the 7th. We are having a memorial service in New York for my sister Nancy. Her ashes will be buried at Woodside Cemetery near Belleville,New York.
May 11,2008...I added some of my mothers diary for 1939.Will be adding picture's this week. The memorial service for my sister went well. will add comments for it later this week under in memory of.
May 15,2008...I added more diary entry's also an obit under Holliday/Halliday's and some thombstones Nancy Carver sent me. She is a Holliday descendant.
May 17,2008....I just added under biographies an article written by Nancy Carver on her memories. It was very enjoyable to read she did a great job on it. They may not have had a lot of money in growing up but they had a lot love. And it shows up in what she worte. Added a picture of her and relatives under photo's and Holliday descendants. Also added more obits.
May 21,2008....Have spent a few days adding names to tribal pages. Only have a couple thousand more to add. Now have about 4,363 names. Also have a new picture under family photo's and then mystery photo's it could be a Holliday. Sent to me by Faye White. Check and see if you can indentify it.
May 23,2008...I added a letter my mother wrote in 1963. It tells about the trip to Florida when we tipped over. I also added the pictures we took. You will find it interesting to read. Look under my mother Grace then stories & poems then Grace's stories. I try to add something new every day.
JUNE 7,2008....I have my mom's diary for 1939 about half way done. Will finish it tomorrow. I have some more Holliday/Halliday information to add sent to me by JoAnne Holliday Smith, a descendant of William & Betsy (nee: Eastwood) Holliday. I will try to get that information on line soon. If any one has a story to add, picture's of family tombstones, or will write me about their memories of a family member or themselves please feel free to send me and I will add it to the site. Any one who wants to help type some things let me know.
JUNE 14,2008.... If you look under my mother Grace; stories & poems and then Grace's stories you will find some stories my mother wrote at one time. The titles are Trees; Button, Button; Roads & Ice Fishing in the Matanuska Valley in Alaska. will be adding more as I go. Also added another month to the Bamford Diaries today.Working on the year 1894
JUNE 28,2008.... I have been adding things all week. Added more diary entry's of Grandma Bamfords. We have a new baby in the family Levi Jude Asher Henderson. Born to Jonathan & Nashisha Henderson look under new arrivals. I have JoAnne Holliday Smith's line added in place on Tribal Pages.
July 5,2008....I have almost finished Grandma Bamfords 1894 diary. She had skipped days here and there. I would like to have them indexed one day. I have added more of my mothers poems look under My mother Grace, poems & stories to find them. Will add more tomorrow.
July 9,2008...I have added what names I have on the Murphy linage connected to my Family. If anyone sees any need to make a correction or has more information to add please e-mail me. You will find it under Tribal pages. I now have 4,769 people listed in my family tree and have a lot more to add.
July 12,2008...I added a lot of picture's today. Some under Ross's & Whiting's. Also wrote some more on the Bio. for my sister which is becoming more of a family story.
July 21,2008...I added a few links under the Bio. of William Vincent. One is the Vincent book we wrote in 2000. It took 6 of us over a year of intense study and research to write it. Richard Vincent had it on his site.
July 27,2008....I finished adding all of William & Sarah Caldwell Holliday's descendants that I have on to my TribalPages. Their descendants have a small light blue square beside their names. If you find I have missed someone or need to make a correction please e-mail me. The people at Tribal Pages have stated that as long as the site is in existence my work will not ever be deleted. Only I could do that.I have 5,319 people listed on my family tree so far. And I have more to add.
August 15,2008...... I have been adding information on the web site. "Find a Grave" A very good web site for anyone interested in genealogy should check out. On mine I added my cousin's tombstones under In memory of & obits. Vincent tombstones. I am trying out Verizon to see if it works better then what I had. I am still getting e-mail under my old e-mail address but if you have a problem with them try tmoye14@verizon.net Will try to get back to adding more diaries.
August 17,2008.....I have finished Grandma Irene Dixon Bamford's diary for 1894 and am now working on 1895. I plan on working on them this coming week. Some yeras are smaller with fewer entries then others. A lot of Wolfe Island people neighbors and friends are mentioned. Marriages, deaths & births of others not just family. Also they make very good reading.
August 21,2008.... I have added some old post cards under "Places I Have Lived" - New York - Fort Drum; Belleville; Evans Mills then I started to think I have so many old post card around 1900/1907 time frame that I needed to add a page just for them. So if you look under "The Good Old Days" - old post cards- you will find where I have started to add them. It will take some time I have to scan and resize them so check back in awhile. I also corrected a couple of broken links. If you find one please let me know so I can fix it.
August 28,2008... Have been working on Flora Kings diaries. Added up to middle of July 1935. Look under My mother Grace. Can't seem to get my new verizon e-mail to work. So if you need to contact me use jmoye6@cfl.rr.com. It works OK.
September 11,2008:...I started a new page under The Good Old Days. My journal and comments on life as I go. I have never been able to keep a diary like most of my family members so I decided to write here. Hope if you read it that it doesn't bore you. I find most people who write in a diary always add I wonder if anyone will ever read this.I added more to Flora Kings diary today.
September 18,2008....I have added all the information I have about the cemetery on Wolfe Island. The "Saint Lawrence United Church Cemetery" still want to add some pictures of it. It is at Findagrave.com check it out and if there are any corrections to be made let me know. There is a place to add flowers/note or a picture of your ancester with it. If you have trouble finding it e-mail me and I will send you a link. Will probably add one to this site. I think I did under My favorite web sites. I will if I haven't yet. Working on adding diaries today. I checked and I have a link to Find a grave under In Memory Of & Obits at the bottom of the first page. You can check by surname the ones I have added so far or with a surname of what is on the site. It is surprising what you may find.
September 19,2008...I have finished the 1935 diary of Flora Kings and have started 1938. Will do 1934 at a later time it is longer and will take more time to transcribe. It is a lot of typing but worth it.
September 25,2008... Added some of Nancy's art work. Look under My Mother Grace and art work. Will add more at a later date. Also added pictures of my grandmother Kittie Dickinson's aunt Kit under Photo's Howard. Kit & Melvin Bovee.
October 16,2008...Adding more from Flora Kings diaries. If anyone wants to help type let me know. When I finish typeing her diaries online I will add them to the Watertown libary genealogy dept. so they will be preserved.This is breast cancer awareness month. I am a survivor now for 15 years.
October 28,2008... I have added more of Flora Kings diaries on line and also Oct. 1986 under "Gotham Ties" I have had to change the way I am adding "The Gotham Ties" Instead of re-sizeing the pictures and re-typeing most of the information I am now just scaning the pages and adding them. They don't look as neat (I think) but I will be able to add them all in the next few days. The important thing is to get them on line with all the information and work Pat did on them I can't see them lost in time.
November 11,2008.... Still adding new things. Some new Obits. I also want to invite everyone to check out my sister's web site. She makes handmade bags and etc. Some to honor our troops. December 17,2008....The year 2008 is almost over. I want to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year. Added more on the diaries. Also A Christmas Story to my angel pages. It is a story I have heard before but is so inspiring it is always good to read again. Will be working on some more pictures in a few days. Will try to get more on line of the Gotham Ties. I add something every day but don't always get to add an update on it.
December 31,2008...The year 2008 is almost over. It is now 10:57 so 2009 will soon roll in. Hope it turns out better then 2008. 2008 has had some rough spots for all. I have been adding things to JeffCoWiki all day. Added a page on the little one room school Nancy & I went to Rutland Center. District school # 4. Also did one on Robert Hitchcock inventor of the Hitchcock Lamp who was from Watertown area. Hope everyone has a safe & Happy New Year.
