The Dickinson's

I believe my line came from England ,but I can only get back as far as Moses & Rebecca Dickinson. A cousin who also works on the Dickinson line found this generation. They were the parents of Paul born May 25,1774 in Worcester, Massachusetts; Moses born in 1776; James born in 1777; Rebecca born in 1780; Samuel born in 1782; Stephen born in 1785; Lemuel born in 1789; & Lucy born in 1793. Moses died in Lancaster, Massachusetts on March 25,1816 and Rebecca died on January 19,1821. Paul married Sarah Bemis December 13,1796 in Dummerston, Whindham County, Vermont & their children were all born there. From there they moved to Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., New York and that is where they stayed.

About Dickerson, Paul

There was some kind of a family dispute and some of the brothers changed their name from `in` to `er`. In my line after Paul they went back to `in`. I have not found the burial place for Paul and Sarah. Both George & Elias (2 of their sons) are Buried at the Saxe Cemt., Jefferson Co., New York. I grew up in this area and I have picture`s of their stone's. There were a lot of Bemis`s buried there also. Another son Alcander is buried at Woodside Cem. not far away. We have not verified the parents of Paul, a distant cousin Joyce Rivers, could only find that his parents were Moses and Rebecca Dickinson so until this is diproven we will list them as his parents.

The Dickinson's were mostly farmers and very musical. Many of them are blonde haired with blue eyes., mild tempered and at least one red curly haired person in each generation.
