My dad came from a long line of farmers. They came from Vermont to settle in Jefferson County, New York in the 1800's. Both the Bemis and Dickinson family settled in the Belleville area there they farmed for generations. My father hired out to work for Arthur Vincent on his farm. Then in 1939 he married my mother Grace, daughter of Arthur & Marjorie (Halliday) Vincent. Grandma & grandpa always lived with us. Grandpa had put his farm in the soil bank government program and had a lot of legal problems with it which ended up with a life time judgement against his name. After that everything was put in my mother & dads name. Some of these old pictures were while dad was working for grandpa and others on his own farms or ones that he leased..
The first picture was in front of the house at Adams Center on the Green Settlement road which my grandparents owned around middle 1930's and was later rented out and then sold to their son (my Uncle) Ross Arthur Vincent. The barn in the picture is theirs it was on the other side of the road from the house. That's my dad on the wagon of hay. The second picture is Grandpa at the plow and dad on the house. taken in late 1930's.
