BIOGRAPHY OF THE HOWARD'S
JOHN AND HIS BROTHER GIDEON

My paternal grandmother was Kittie Bell Howard Dickinson. She was the Great- Great Granddaughter of John Howard.
About JOHN HOWARD
John Howard and his brother Gideon bought land in Bennington in January 1789. Gidon sold part of this in 1791 at which time he was living in Holland Patent, New York. The next record for these families found to date is the 1792 Oneida tax list for the area of Fort Stanwix [Rome NY.] The Jefferson Co. history suggest they came via the Black River with others from New England seeking home sites about 1798 and that John G. Howard had 150 acreas of land. Perhaps this should have said John and G. Howard. They also were of the pioneer families of Jeff.Co.listed in Nan Dixon`s web site. At PIONEER FAMILIES and at Shirley Farone's site under early settlers in the Town of Adams.SETTLEMENT OF ADAMS
I have different information on some of the people mentioned by Skip Duett on Nan Dixon's site. The information I have was copied from the hand written copy's of the diaries of Carolyn Noice. These copies were hand written by my grandmother from the diaries. Where the actual diaries are today I have not a clue. I am hoping one day they will turn up.
