BIOGRAPHY OF ELEANOR O'CONNOR VINCENT

Not a lot is known about Eleanor O'Connor Vincent. Except she was my great, great grandmother and was born in 1806 in Poland, New York. She was married to Abram Vincent and had 9 children Bernard, Marshall(also known as Monti), Charles, Delia ( I believe short for Cordelia) Louisa, Leonard, Edgar, Marcellus and Flora Elcina. They lived near Clayton, Jefferson Co., New York on a farm most of their lives. Abram died in 1886 and Eleanor died February 19, 1886 in Clayton and they are both buried there. Their son Leonard was my great grandfather. The one thing that stands out about Eleanor is that she was a member of the women's suffrage movement in the 1880's. The link below is in a book written about the women who were a part of this movement in upstate New York. When Lori wrote the book she asked me for information about Eleanor, It sounds funny but I learned more from her then she did me. If I find any more I will add it later.

Untidy Origins: A Story of Woman's Rights in Antebellum New York.

This is a picture I found of a Suffragette Parade in Watertown, New York in 1915. As Eleanor died in 1886 she was not in this parade but this gives you an idea of the movement that was part of Watertown history.
