Thurmaston in the year 1903

Until the year 1903 Thurmaston was divided into the townships of North and South Thurmaston, in which year a County Council Order made the townships into one civil parish. The new parish was, by Edwardian standards, described as a large village by the compilers of Kelly's Directory of 1904. The houses, shops, work places, public houses, and places of worship that constituted the village were largely strung out along the Fosse Road, as may be seen from the above map..
