Pemiscot County, Missouri
Pemiscot County was organized on February 19, 1851 from New Madrid County. The first courthouse was built in 1854. The second courthouse was destroyed by fire in 1873. (The History of Southeast Missouri, published in 1888 by The Goodspeed Publishing Company, Chicago.)
