Elmore Family of Henry County, Alabama

I am researching the family of John W. Elmore. John was born in South Carolina about 1800. He married Martha Ann Sims on 30 August 1824 in Greene County, Georgia. By 1840, John and Martha were living in Henry County, Alabama. John died in September 1851 in Henry County, Alabama.
Martha married William Searcy on 14 Feb. 1853 in Henry County, Alabama. Martha is enumerated on the 1860 Henry County, Alabama Census on page 255. She is in the household next to G. T. & Louisa Grace.
Two of John's sons served in Company H, 37th Alabama Infantry, C.S.A. The Elmore Military Records page has information taken from the compiled service records of James K. P. Elmore and John W. Elmore. Also included is an index for the surname Elmore of soldiers who served in Confederate Units from the State of Alabama.
John's parents are unknown at this time. There were other Elmore families living in Henry and Barbour Counties. I have included information on the other Elmore families taken from census, probate, and land records.

The Estate of John W. Elmore
John W. Elmore died on 05 September 1851 without leaving a will. Martha Elmore petitioned the court to have James Searcy, Esq. appointed as the administrator of the estate. Letters of administration were granted to James Searcy on 11 September 1851.
Children named in the estate documents are: Caroline Elmore, Bartlett H. Elmore, Louisa, wife of Thomas Grace, Martha Ann Elmore, Josephine Elmore, Nancy Jane Elmore, John William Elmore, James K. P. Elmore, Andrew Jackson Elmore, and Francis Marion Elmore. Caroline, Bartlett and Louisa were of legal age. (Orphans Court Record Book F, pages 480-483.)
