Boring Family Reunion Home Page

The descendants of John Doss Boring (Borin) born 1799 hold a family reunion the third Sunday in August every year. The next one will be August 16, 2009. It is held at the John Doss Boring homeplace located about five miles southwest of Tellico Plains, TN in Monroe County (see map). Everyone brings a covered dish to be shared under the oak trees around 12:00 noon. From 11 am through early evening, there is plenty of time to share genealogy, stories, visit the family cemetery, or just visit. Did I mention eating? Dress is casual.

From Knoxville, look for the Sweetwater exit on I-75 South. Proceed on TN Highway 68 thru Sweetwater (a fun stop is the Lost Sea between Sweetwater and Madisonville), then Madisonville, on toward Tellico Plains. About 12 to 13 miles from Madisonville, turn right onto Mecca Pike (Highway 39 West) toward Etowah. After about 3.8 miles, take Allman Road (county road number 658) to the left down a steep incline. County road 658 is just before Reliance Road exits to the left off Mecca Pike. About 7/10ths of a mile down this road is the John Doss Boring home place.
