Some researchers have Chana Boren as a possible parent, but that has been disproven. Lineages,
Inc.
believes parents are Absolom Boring (b. 1765/7) and Hannah Little. Any conclusions are speculative at
best. Family stories say he moved to Monroe County
from the Chilhowie area which is in Blount County,
TN.

Was ordained a deacon in the Hiwassee Union Baptist Church 3rd Sunday in April
1860. Was a mason.
Death -- Maranda
was either going to or returning from getting his corn milled and was
bushwhacked at
Boring Gap between Lost Creek and
Ellis Creek by the Kirkland Bushwhackers after the Civil War. John
Womac was also killed. Maranda's
daughter, Mary, witnessed the murder and hitched up the wagon to
retrieve his body.
