William Jackson VINEYARD * Sarah PORCH

William Jackson Vinyard was born December 1833. He married Sarah Porch, daughter of Sherrod and Celia Porch, on 19 October 1854 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Sarah was born about 1832, possibly in Meriwether County, Georgia. I had, at first, thought that Sarah was the same as Millie, who is enumerated with William J. on all census records, starting in 1860. After viewing the 1880 Sebastian County, Arkansas census, I have come to the conclusion that  Sarah Porch died after having two children and William remarried. Millie's mother is enumerated with the family in 1880, and is listed as Millie Hunter, widowed and 91 years of age. Also living with the family in 1880 is William, William J.'s father.

Millie was born July 1830 and she died sometime before 1910.

William served in the Civil War with Company B, 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment. William is living in Sebastian County, Arkansas in 1880, 1900 and 1910.
