Fannin TIPPETT * Sarah UMPHRESS
James Fannin Tippett was born July 1836 in Georgia, probably Greene County. He married Sarah Umphress on 27 July 1861 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Sarah was born about 1838-40, the daughter of Edmund and Sallie Canada Umphress. James served in Company B, 47th Alabama Infantry during the Civil War. He was served as private, then sergeant. He was wounded on 11 July 64(NARA), no other information available. James and Sarah are enumerated as late as 1880 in Tallapoosa County.
