Elijah JORDAN * Celia SMITH

Elijah Jordan was born about 1793 in Georgia, the son of Dempsey Jordan and Sarah O'Neal. He first married Cynthia Ann King on 13 April 1814 in Green County, Georgia. He later married Celia Smith in 1834 in Meriwether County, Georgia.

Celia Smith was born about 1810, according to the 1850 Tallapoosa County, Alabama census.  She was the daughter of William Smith and Celia Wadsworth? (Celia, wife of William Smith, maiden name has been said to be Hogan, but I have reason to believe that it was Wadsworth).

Elijah's aunt was Amy Wadsworth, wife of Charles Jordan Jr. Amy was sister of Esther Wadsworth McBurnett, mother of Thomas McBurnett.

Celia Smith Jordan had a sister Sarah Smith, who married Thomas McBurnett. Another sister, Rutha Smith, married John Buse.

Elijah and Celia migrated to Upshur County, Texas where Elijah died in 1870, at the age of 77, and Celia is found living close to son William at the time of the 1870 census.

Elijah and Cynthia had the following known children:
